"First Call Sarah" ARPA NIAGARA (Association for Reformed Political Action) Invitation to Important Event + Some Good News Most of us have received a fine in the past, perhaps for speeding, for not wearing a seat belt, or for some other minor driving offence. Although this may anger you at the time, likely deep down you know you deserved it. Now imagine being fined for something you said or wrote in your local newspaper. You may remember Steve Boissoin who had a Human Rights Complaint filed against him for writing a letter to the editor of his local newspaper. In the letter he expressed his opinion that homosexuality is immoral and dangerous. At the Human Rights Tribunal, Steve had to pay for his own defence while his accuser, homosexual activist Dr Darren Lund, had his expenses paid for by the government. The Tribunal found Boissoin guilty and he was ordered to pay $7,000 in damages. In addition to this they also called for Boissoin to personally apologize to Lund in a public statement in the local newspaper and never to speak on the subject of Homosexuality again. Steve Boission could have paid the fine and apologized compromising his faith. Instead he is defending God’s truth, first at the Tribunal and now before the courts. Fighting now for seven years, his legal expenses are now in the $100,000’s. This has meant hardship for him and his family with ever increasing debt. Although at first he was largely on his own in this battle, over time fellow believers have come to give him support and financial assistance. But the battle is not over for him and the cost continues to climb. How should we react to this? Should we keep silent? Should we protest? Will we as believers be affected? Have we already been cowed into a corner? Is there anything that can be done to stop the oppression caused by the Human Rights Tribunal? Steve Boissoin will be in Niagara to tell his story. Come to this ARPA Niagara sponsored event and learn how the Human Rights Commissions threaten free speech and the simple teaching of the Word of God in Canada. Learn about what our response should be and why. Date: Fri. This totalitarian measure, celebrated by Canadian Human Rights Commission czar, Jennifer Lynch, has been the target of Canadian freedom fighters for several years now – ever since Islamic radicals tried to use it against Maclean’s magazine over an excerpt they ran of Mark Steyn’s book, "America Alone." CHRT adjudicator Athanasios D. Hadjis issued the ruling in the case of Richard Warman and the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) against Marc Lemire. Professional "hate–crime" complainant – and former CHRC employee – Richard Warman may have to find a new line of work! The CHRT did what the Conservative government lacked the courage to do over the past couple of years – although it seemed as though they were very slowly moving in the direction of doing something. Now we’ll never know. A big Thank You to all our donors for your kind and generous contributions last month. We received close to $2000. This made it possible to run the ads (see last newsletter) in two local newspapers for three consecutive weeks. It will also enable us to keep printing this newsletter for a while. Some of the money has been allocated to make it possible for Steven Boissoin to come to speak to us (see page 1). The CHRC or Richard Warman can appeal the decision into the court system. The CHRC has no idea how to win when faced with the rules of process imposed by real courts so it would probably be a very intimidating experience. But chief commissioner, Jennifer Lynch, probably thinks she has a reputation to defend, so it remains to be seen what the Commission will do. The CHRT cannot itself repeal section 13, Mr. Hadjis, in view of his analysis, said, "I will simply refuse to apply these provisions for the purposes of the complaint against Mr. Lemire and I will not issue any remedial order against him."
